More light in the interior: the E-Class Saloon features two optional electrically-operated roof systems. A newly-developed self-deploying wind deflector ensures quieter running even when the roof is open, while heat insulating glass protects against too strong solar radiation. In addition the roof systems are equipped with an automatic rain-sensor closing function, an anti-entrapment feature and PRE-SAFE® closing function.

The electrically-driven sliding/tilting sunroof is made from single-layer safety glass and is available as an option. As soon as you open it, it allows more fresh air into the E-Class. A new function enhances its ease of operation: if the opening switch is pressed beyond a pressure point, the roof opens to the last selected position. Pressing in the same manner to close the roof closes the sliding/tilting sunroof automatically; it can then be covered by a manually-operated sun screen at will.

Also available as optional equipment: the full-glass roof, an exterior sliding three-part electrically driven glass sliding sunroof, extending over virtually the entire roof area of the car. The two electric roller blinds in the vehicle’s appointments colour can be closed at the touch of a button.
